Senapati, June 25 2018:
Civil society organisations in Senapati district, under the aegis of the Naga Peoples' Organisation (NPO), apex body of Senapati district have announced to call a 24 hour bandh in Senapati district from 6 am of June 27 till 6 am of June 28 .
The bandh has been called in protest against the State Government antics of frequent transfer and posting of officers in the district.
National Highway 2 will be blocked during the bandh hour.
According to the NPO, the frequent transfer and posting of officers in the district such as DC, SP, HoD, etc, are becoming a regular trend.
It claimed that such practice are detrimental to peace and development in the district.
It also said that the most recent transfer of SP, M Pradip Singh (IPS), who was posted in the district barely four months ago, and replacement by Hopson Sapam, MPS as i/c SP Senapati on June 23 was uncalled for and further urged the authority concerned to revoke the order at the earliest.
The NPO then said that a full fledged SP has been absent at the district Senapati from August 2017 till January 2018, during which SP i/c Kangpokpi was overseeing Senapati as well.
It further stated that Senapati district, inhabited by various ethnic groups and bordering with other States, is prone to law and order problems.
The State Government should not act hastily and wantonly transfer officers at its whims.
NPO further lamented that it is the general public who always suffer in the end.
The NPO cautioned that the people of Senapati will take the failure to revoke the transfer order seriously while warning to launch stringent actions including total indefinite bandh of all inter-State transport systems.
It further warned that the State Government solely will be held responsible for all the woes of the people of Manipur due the indefinite bandh.
Meanwhile, the NPO said that educational institutions, electricity department, water supply, medical, media and paramilitary will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.
