Civil Society Organizations of Sadar Hills including Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, KSO Sadar Hills, TSA Sadar Hills and KWU Sadar Hills on Saturday warned against the below scheduled rate in the ongoing sanction work tender of 272-287 Km road construction.
The civil societies expressed deep concerned over the depilated road condition of National Highway section particularly within Taphou Kuki and Gamgiphai in Sadar Hills.
Speaking to media persons this evening at Kangpokpi, spokesperson of Sadar Hills CSOs Lamcha Chongloi said that it has been a matter of great concern to the public of Sadar Hills particularly those residing along NH-2 between Taphou Kuki and Gamgiphai that the disgraceful condition of National Highway has hampered free movement.
Lamcha alleged that the practice of below schedule rate quoted by the contractors while trying to get works at the time of tendering is the key factor for the improper execution of the sanctioned works and partial maintenance of the highway.
It has been learned from a reliable source that tendering for the sanction work of 272 287 Km is currently going on, but any below scheduled rate tender will not be entertained at any cost in the interest of the general public, he said.
Lamcha further maintained that the execution of sanctioned work has failed to maintain quality in implementation of any work under PWD, BRO and PMGSY in the state.
Lamcha also maintained that the civil society organizations of Sadar Hills have resolved to firmly supervise any new work taken up along the National Highway in Sadar Hills areas to ensure the contractors and engineers do not fool the public.
