Protests galore over ILPS demand

People from all walks of life continue to stage protests demanding a law to safeguard the indigenous people of the State.
The controversial Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers Bill, 2015 was withdrawn on July 15 following wide-spread protests which was intensified after a class eleven student protestor of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary School was killed in a police action on July 8.As a follow up a new bill for protecting indigenous population is in the offing from the State government in three months time, which is objected to by the public for the long time sought, despite the fact that the State government had already taken many inputs from legal experts, intellectuals, political parties and Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System even before the infamous MRVT & MW Bill, 2015 was introduced in the Assembly.
The public at large are demanding quick introduction and implementation of the ILPS while the State government is seeking cooperation from the intellectuals, lawyers and JCILPS.
The stand-off is marked by agitation and as such various protests continued on Monday.
Effigy of the Chief Minister was burnt down in front of Keishampat Leimajam Leikai Community Hall by protestors.
Human chain was formed by protestors at Sagolband Tera Keithel and Sagolband Meino Leirak.
A huge rally started out from Singjamei Chinga Mathak was stopped at Moirangkhom by Police personnel.
Sit � in protests were also held at Yaiskul Police Lane.
Localities from Keishamthong Longjam Leirak, Hodam Leirak and Top Leirak together staged sit � in � protests at Keishamthong Keithel.
Protests were also held at Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai.
Protestors from Keishamthong Ahanthem Leikai, Keishamthong Thangjam Leirak, Khagempalli Huidrom Leikai demonstrated their protests at Yumjao Leirembi Shanglen.
Protests were carried out at Singjamei Keithel, Singjamei Wangma Kshetri Leikai, Singjamei Bhagyabati Leikai, Singjamei Kongba road, Singjamei parking, Singjamei Mathak Chongtham Leikai, Chingnga Mathak Ngakrabam Leirak, SEICO Chanam pukhri mapal, Kha Ningomthong, Kourou Mamang Leikai, Pichu Lampak, Thongju, Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai, Chingamathak Apunba club and meira paibi at Galaxy club Singjamei, Pishum Thong Oinam Leikai, Pishum Ningom Leirak, Khagempalli Huidrom Leikai, Lilashing Khongnangkhong, Nagamapal, Thoubal Chaoyaima, Kakwa Lamdaibung, Nganappi Thong, Sega Road Thouda Bhabok Leikai, Top Leirak Machin, Waheng leikai, Hiyangthang Keithel, Heirangoithong Keithel, Noarem Leikai Mera school Mamang, Mayai Lambi Thongkhong Luxmi market.
Shopkeepers at Babupara also staged sit � in protests.
