JD(U) urges Rajnath Singh to repeal AFSPA

JD(U) Manipur Unit has urged Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to repeal the Armed Forces Special Power Act.

This was informed by JD(U) Manipur Unit President Tombi during a press conference held at Babupura on Saturday.
He said the memorandum stressed on the atrocities committed by security forces under ASPA and reminded that Irom Sharmila Chanu has been launching a fast demanding the repeal of the Act.
The memorandum also asked the Union Home Minister to replace the Assam Rifles (AR) by Border Security Force (BSF) for guarding the international boundary.
The other points raised include deployment of Highway Special Force along the two national highways of Manipur; safeguarding Manipur's the territorial boundary; initiation of political dialogue with surrendered underground cadres and removal of unrecognised camps of NSCM (IM) located in Chandel, Senapati and Tamenglong, informed the JD(U) Manipur Unit president.
