Ukhrul, September 13 2019:
The State Government has failed to provide uniforms for students of Government schools in Ukhrul district under SSA, alleged Ukhrul District Teachers Welfare Association (UDTWA) today, reports our correspondent.
Speaking to media persons at Viewland, Ukhrul president of UDTWA Wungnaoshang highlighted the grievances faced by students of Government schools in the district.
The State Government is yet to provide school uniforms for the academic session 2019-20 (under RTE Act) although school authorities have already approached the department concerned to distribute the uniforms, he added.
He asserted that the academic session is almost over but the Government continues to turn a deaf ear to the repeated appeal of the school authority.
UDTWA secretary Songayam mentioned the lack of uniformity in classroom as newcomers are attending the schools without uniform.
He also stated that such negligence of the authorities concerned have also created a wrong impression of Government schools among the parents and guardians.
Even though the State Government has been rooting for the "School Fagathanshi" campaign to improve Government schools in the State, the condition of Government schools and its students in the district is still in a pathetic condition, Songayam remarked.
UDTWA warned the State Government to provide the school uniforms within September and further threatened that the teaching community of the district will take up different modes of agitation if the Government fails to meet the demand of the association.
