Imphal, September 12 2015 :
Observing that the existing condition of the Government Polytechnic, Takyelpat is rather disappointing, the MSF has sought immediate attention of the Government.
A team of MSF today visited the institution's boys hostel and they found the hostel's infrastructure quite inadequate.
MSF vice-president Lucky Konsam compared the existing condition of the hostel to a cow shed.
It is rather disappointing that students of engineering courses and other technical professions have been put in such a filthy environment.
He sought immediate attention of the Government so as to take up remedial measures without any undue delay.
Government Polytechnic Students' Union general secretary N Gokulchandra said that almost all the students have been using toilets of the hostel as toilets of the main classroom building went out of order since a long time back.
Many of the white boards have been torn whereas there is not a single digital board.
The hostel was renovated recently but the mess hall and electrification part were left out.
The students themselves have taken care of lighting their rooms.
Moreover, potable water is not available in sufficient quantity at the hostel, Gokulchandra said.
According to Gokulchandra, the students have complained to teachers and the teachers responded quite positively but nothing has changed on the ground.
