ILP demand: Sit-ins held at various places

Imphal, June 12 2013:
Various social organizations and student bodies held sit-ins across the State today demanding the implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) System.
Kangleipak Lamjing Apunba Kangla Mei, Kwakeithel Bazar Apunba Lup and Women Welfare Organization Kangleipak Lup jointly organised a sit-in at Kwakeithel Bazar.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao on the sideline of the protest demonstration, Vice-President of Lamjing Apunba Kangla Mei RK Tamphasana pointed out that Manipur is now in a critical situation largely dominated by the non-locals.
The Manipuris may one day become extinct like the Tripuris.
The people of this land should join hands in combating heavy influx of non-locals to the State by demanding implementation of Inner Line Permit System at once, she added.

Meanwhile, in response to the call of Students' Wing of the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System, students of Afros Higher Secondary, Khabeisoi; Azad English School, Meitram; Success School, Khurai; Universal Students' Academy, Singjamei and Imphal Public School, Canchipur staged sit-ins in front of their respective schools to press the demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur.
All Manipur Recognized Private Schools' Welfare Association has also endorsed the demand for implementing Inner Line Permit System in the State to check the increasing population of non-locals which are threatening the existence of indigenous people.
