World bio-fuel day observed

As done in other parts of the world, the World Bio-Fuel Day was observed today in the State at TRI hall, Chingmeirong under the auspices of National Yuva Cooperative Society Ltd (NYCS), Manipur.
Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Yumnam Khemchand attended the programme as the chief guest while Prof JM Laishram, Dean, College of Agriculture, CAU, Imphal was the president.
Amit Das, Regional Head, NYCS, India and Dr IS Konthoujam, Event coordinator, NYCS, Manipur were the special guests.
Speaking at the occasion, Speaker Y Khemchand stressed the need to control pollution amidst the global concern for climate change.
In Europe, production of bio-fuel has gained momentum.
Research on the use of biofuel in India to incentivize the use of the cleaner fuel has just begun, he said.
Khemchand further of served that the number vehicles in Manipur too in creased thereby resulting in more congestion on roads Pollution caused by vehicles also posed health hazard.
He urged the authority concerned to promote biofuel and people of all walks should join hands in containing pollution.
The organisers said that the event was organised to create awareness about non fossil fuel (green fuels) .
