CM, others extend Kang greetings

Chief minister N Biren Singh has conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur, especially Hindu brothers and sisters on the occasion of Kang (Rath Yatra) festival.
In his greeting, CM Biren said that celebration of Kang festival in Manipur begins on the second day of Engen month of Manipuri lunar calendar and ends on the tenth day.
The main events of the festival include the pulling of Kang, the traditional chariot, and offering of flowers and fruits to Lord Jagannath.
People from all walks of life, irrespective of caste, colour and gender turn up to participate in the procession of 'Kang Chingba' with the belief that holding the ropes and pulling the chariot carrying the deities will wash away all sorrows of life, he said.
Biren also urged the people to follow Covid appropriate behaviour to protect from the pandemic.
"I join the people of Manipur in the celebration of Kang and pray to Lord Jagannath to shower the state with blessings of joy and prosperity," Biren added.
IPR minister Th Biswajit Singh, Consumers Affairs, Food & Public Distribution minister Th Satyabrata Singh and Agriculture minister O Lukhoi Singh also extended warm wishes and best greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Kang.
They also prayed that lord Jagannath showers blessings to the people of Manipur on this occasion to overcome the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
