3 killed, 23 injured in mishaps

Imphal, January 11 2013:
At least three people including an 8-year-old girl were killed while 23 others wounded in two separate road mishaps in the last two days.
The driver of a passenger Tata Winger and an 8-year old girl passenger lost their lives and 22 others sustained injuries when the Tata Winger which was coming from Imphal and heading towards Churachandpur collided with a passenger Canter bus at around 10 am at the adjoining area of Malom Makha Leikai and Meitram Awang Leikai along the Tiddim Road (NH 150) .
The two victims have been identified as Lhingneilam (8), daughter of Ginmang Haokip, who hailed from Molphai village located close to Sangaikot in Churachandpur district, and Ningthoujam Rohikanta (35), son of N Kumar, a resident of Nambol Awang Leikai in Bishnupur district.
Rohikanta was the driver of the passenger van.
The injured victims have been admitted to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal for medical treatment.
The condition of some of them is stated to be critical.
Nambol Police has registered a case in connection with the accident.
On the other hand, a motor rider was killed yesterday at around 6.45 pm after hitting a boy who was cycling at Langdum Boroimakhong area along Imphal Ngariyan road under Irilbung Police Station.
The victim was identified as Hidam Michael (18), son of H Dhruba of Langdum Mamang Leikai.
The injured boy is undergoing treatment at Shija Hospital.
Irilbung Police has registered a case in this connection.
