President Pranab Mukherjee, Manipur Governor Gurbachan Jagat, MP Dr Thokchom Meinya and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh have greeted the people of Manipur on the auspicious Sajibu Cheiraoba.
In a message to the people who on the occassion of Chaitra Sukladi, Ugadi, Gudi Padava, Cheti Chand, Navreh and Sajibu Cheiraoba tomorrow, President Pranab Mukherjee expressed: "these festivals heralding the New Year in different parts of the country usher in spring - a time of hope and creativity when nature shares its generosity with us.
On these joyous occasions, let us resolve to share happiness and joy with others" .
May these festivals strengthen the bonds of amity and friendship among our people and foster peace, harmony and prosperity in our country, added the President's message.
Inner Manipur Member of Parliament Dr Thokchom Meinya conveying 'respectful greetings' to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Cheiraoba (New Year), expressed solemn desire to maintain peace and harmony among the people of Manipur.
"Let us all work together towards achieving a better life in the State in the days to come.
Let the almighty god bless all of us a happy and prosperous New Year 2013," said Dr Meinya.
In his address to the people, Chief Minister Ibobi noted that festival heralds the new year and is celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety.
"The festival strengthens the bond of love and brotherhood among the members of each family in particular, and among the fellow members in the neighbourhood in general," said the CM while expressing that the occasion also remind all to live a clean and pure life.
He also wished that festival usher joy, prosperity and peaceful coexistence among all the people of the State.
Greeting the people of Manipur, Governor Gurbachan Jagat conveyed wish that the occasion will be a harbinger of peace and harmony in the State.
Noting that inspite of many incidents that posed threat to bond between different communities, the people have maintained their sanity and avoided violence, the Governor further wished that on the occasion of Sajibu Nongmapanba everybody adopt new resolutions for a better Manipur.
"We should rededicate ourselves to renew our bonds of friendship so that we can all live as brothers and sisters, irrespective of caste, creed, language and religion," he expressed.
IGAR (South) Maj Gen UK Gurung, and all ranks of Assam Rifles have extended warm greetings and sincere goodwill to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Meitei New Year Sajibu Cheiraoba.
