Ex-MLA Jamhenlung Panmei of Tamenglong assembly constituency, BJP intending candidates in Uripok assembly constituency Khumbongmayum Suresh and Elangbam Sobit in Khundrakpam AC have also resigned from the party and joined JD-U.Oinam Nabakishore of Bishnupur assembly constituency, who was in race for BJP ticket, has also resigned from the primary membership of BJP as well as from being a special invitee to the BJP state executive committee on Sunday.
In his resignation letter, the retired IAS officer stated that he, as a member of BJP, worked to promote the ideologies of BJP and the programmes of both state and central governments.
He charged the BJP leaderships of unjustly denying party ticket to him and giving the same to a new entrant as a reward for leaving INC as president of Manipur unit in furtherance of the party's goal of Congress mukt Manipur.
Meanwhile, Dr Nimaichand Luwang told media persons at his residence that he will contest the upcoming election from another political party but he did not mention which party he will be joining.
On the other hand, BJP Wangkhem Mandal president L Sunil has declared that the Mandal has been dissolved with immediate effect for issuing party ticket to a recently joined intending candidate instead of giving to Dr Nimaichand Luwang, who worked hard for the party for many years.
Following the announcement of the list of BJP candidates on Sunday, Sagolband AC intending BJP candidate Dr Kh Loken resigned from the membership of the party after his name was excluded from the list.
Additionally, he has made preparations to join another political party so as to contest the upcoming state assembly election.
Addressing newspersons at his Sega Road Takhellambam Leikai residence, Loken said that he joined BJP and remained with the party for a long time thinking the party upholds its own principles above family politics.
However, his assumption was proven wrong on Sunday after the party decided to field a candidate who had recently joined BJP.
RK Imo won the last polls with only a margin of 19 postal ballots, he recalled.
"My dedication and contribution towards the party in the last 6 years has been awarded with a display of narrow minded politics on Sunday.
As such, it is best to separate myself from a party that is only hankering after temporary benefits.
The people of Sagolband AC will definitely teach a lesson to all concerned in the upcoming polls that muscle and money power can neither buy their conscience nor their votes", he contended.
Urging the people of the constituency to extend their support to him in the upcoming polls, Loken assured of making Sagolband a model constituency.
He then consoled his supporters not to feel saddened over the denial of BJP ticket and prevent any emotional outbursts.
