KAMA meets CM to demand memorial complex of Rani Gaidinliu

A team of Kabui Mothers' Association, Manipur (KAMA) on Thursday met Chief Minister O Ibobi and several ministers to discuss the matter regarding construction of a memorial complex of freedom fighter Haipei Rani Gaidinliu.
Chief Minister O Ibobi, Deputy CM Gaikhangam, Commerce & Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam and Education Minister M Okendro took part in the meeting with KAMA representatives, a release said.
During the meeting the KAMA leaders urged the leaders to build a memorial complex of the freedom fighter in Imphal area.
Emphasizing the importance of remembering Rani Gaidinliu by the present generation, KAMA also urged the Government to construct statues of the Manipuri freedom fighter along the National Highways connecting the State.
The Government assured the KAMA team that it would announce something special for Rani Gaidinliu on the 84th death anniversary observation of Haipou Jadonanag on August 29 .
Meanwhile, KAMA criticized the Centre for planning to set up a memorial site of Haipei Rani Gaidinliu in Nagaland State by neglecting her own birth place Manipur State.
