Imphal, May 28 2014:
Concerned over blackout of Tamenglong district since May 15 due to non-functional of the 32 KV power sub-station at Riangpang which was commissioned in 2011, Zeliangrong Union-Assam, Manipur & Nagaland (ZU-AMN) has demanded immediate redressal of the grievances of power supply in the district.
In a statement, the Union lamented that the high expectation of the people of Tamenglong district from the newly commissioned 32 KV power station is gradually wearing away as even after commissioning of the said power station, there is no visible improvement in power supply in the district.
Tamenglong district is lagging behind other districts of Manipur in all development infrastructure because of the step-motherly treatment of the State Government, the statement signed by ZU Tamenglong Zone Chairman S.P.Athui alleged.
Asking how the 32 KV power sub-station at Riangpang has become non-functional or ineffective in a short span of hardly 3 years, the Union expressed apprehension whether there is any sub-standard machineries and equipment installed by the concerned authorities or there are any delinquent officials (Engineers) and inattentive workmen deputed in the said
power station.
Demanding immediate redressal of the grievances of power supply in Tamenglong district, the Union has warned the authorities of series of intense agitations to press their demand.
