Peace pact misused to terrorise public: MNPF
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, September 27 2021: The armed Manipur Naga People's Front (MNPF) has expressed vehement condemnation against the gruesome murder of Zeliangrong Baudi former president Athuan Abonmai after being abducted in Tamenglong district on September 22 .

In a statement issued by its publicity secretary Thomas Numai, MNPF maintained that the abduction and subsequent murder of a public leader by NSCN-IM shows the outfit's immature politics and it was an act of lying to the Zeliangrong people regarding its ideologies and political stand.

Murdering of many public figures and visionary leaders by the NSCN-IM taking undue advantage of the free movement they enjoy in the name of ceasefire agreement with the Government of India clearly shows that the outfit has given up the idea of Naga sovereignty.

Instead, they are using the ceasefire agreement as a tool to terrorise the general public and interfere in Indian election to elect their choice of candidates in order to improve their lifestyle and wealth.

Such ideologies and killings can never bring sovereignty, the secretary stated.

MNPF maintained that number of Nagas killed by NSCN-IM has exceeded number of Nagas killed by Indian security forces.

However, they must know, that the time has gone when they could control the public with guns and they should give up such ideas.

The general public are far more aware of the revolutionary ideologies than NSCN-IM today and no revolutionary organisation can succeed in their movement if they do not respect and love the public.

It further stated had the abduction and murder of Athuan Abonmai occurred in Nagaland, the Naga people would have already vandalised NSCN-IM camps and ousted them from the nearby areas.

NSCN-IM has become an organisation which is despised by Naga people of Nagaland as the relation between the two is widening increasingly due to wrongdoings of the outfit.

Similarly, a day will come when the people of Manipur can no longer endure the terror activities of NSCN-IM.

MNPF also alleged NSCN-IM of collecting huge amount of money from the people of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur to amass their personal wealth while adding that many of the outfit's leaders have become bourgeois and capitalist individuals.

NSCN-IM is imposing its open administration in Tamenglong, Senapati, Ukhrul and Chandel district by setting up battalion HQs and regional offices.

Rather than the rule of the Manipur government, there is NSCN-IM's rule in many Naga dominated areas of Manipur and yet the government is turning a blind eye to this.

On the other hand, the Government of India is seeing opportunities in the recent murder of Zeliangrong leader Athuan Abonmai as they have their own agendas behind signing of the ceasehre agreement and SoO.

MNPF strongly believes that any revolutionary organisation which falls into the strategy of ceasefire agreement will automatically see own demise.

There shall be no dialogue with the Government of India unless it is about regaining the loss sovereignty of Manipur, secretary said, while urging the public to understand the hidden agenda of the GoI and support the revolutionary movement.
