Elevate condition of FCI labourers: IPSA Jiribam

International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA), Jiribam Branch has urged the authorities concerned to elevate the condition of labourers engaged with FCI Jiribam today.
Speaking to media persons at its office in Babupara, Jiribam, IPSA vice president M Nungsithoiba Singh said that IPSA condemns the alleged incident where market labourers from Silchar were brought in to replace the FCI Godown labourers while they are on cease work strike.
Urging authorities concerned to increase the wages of labourers, he said that the wage (handling fee)- Rs 2 per 50 kg of rice should be increased and pay not less than Rs 4 per 50 kg of rice.
He also urged contractors concerned to bring amicable solution with the CAF&PD Labourers' Welfare Association.
IPSA will be looking into the functioning and affairs concerning labourers in FCI Godown and Railways in Jiribam, he said.
IPSA, Jiribam Branch general secretary Th Lenish and finance secretary Ibohal Sharma attended the event.
Meanwhile, a statement of the All Jiribam Local Labourers Union (AJLLU) has claimed that the agitation/strike organised under the aegis of the CAF&PD Labourers Welfare Association is not related in any manner with the FCI Handling Workers Union Jiribam.
It also condemned the CAF&PD Labourers Union of not consulting the concerned FCI Handling Workers' Union before launching the strike to increase the wage of the labourers.
The AJLLU along with FCI Handling Workers' Union Jiribam will consult the contractor concerned to increase the wages of the labourers, said the statement.
