Mass vaccination, testing drives continue

Imphal, July 22 2021:
Continuing the efforts of inoculating every eligible person against Covid-19, Samurou Municipal Council, Energetic Youth Development Organisation (EYDO), Samurou Keithel, Samur-ou Primary Health Centre and District Administration Imphal West organised a mass vaccination programme at Samurou Keithel on Thursday.
More than 200 people got the jab during the programme.
The vaccination programme was carried out after collecting data about people who could be vaccinated in Samurou Municipal Council area, Haoreibi in Langthabal A/C, Naorem, Oinam Sawombung and Samurou in Wangoi A/C and Lilong Haoreibi in Lilong A/C.The vaccination programme was attended by EYDO president Leihaothabam Priyoranjan Sharma, Samurou Primary Health Centre MO in-charge Hao-bam Robi Singh, Samurou Municipal Council executive officer Laishram Romesh, Samurou Municipal Council ex-chairperson Leihaothabam Nonibala Devi among others.
Members of AMUCO too came for administering the vaccine at the programme.
In a bid to ensure 100 per cent vaccination rate, Kwasiphai Youth Volunteers' Organisation (KYVO) also organised a mass vaccination campaign for the 4th time in Kwasiphai village.
On the other-hand, Pukhri Achouba Development (PDC), Charangpat under the supervision pf Thoubal district administration, district police and District Health Society conducted house-to-house testing in Charangpat ward number 7 on Wednesday.
Out of 146 people tested, 8 people were found to be infected by Covid-19 .
Meanwhile, Imphal West Adhyaksha RK Taruni has urged all concerned to take self-precautionary measures so as to stay safe from Covid-19 .
Imphal West District Administration in association with the district Adhyaksha and Mongshangei Kanba Apunba Lup organised a mass vaccination programme at Pilow Library community hall, Mongshangei Mayai Leikai under Mongshangei Gram Panchayat on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, RK Taruni called upon all to acknowledge the relentless efforts and sacrifices of the frontline workers to contain the pandemic.
Taruni, who also received her second dose of Covid-19 vaccine at the camp, said that non-adherence to Covid-19 SOP is the reason behind the rising number of positive cases in the state and as such, urged all to follow the safety protocols and also get vaccinated at the earliest.
As encouragement, RK Taruni held a lottery and present gifts to some lucky beneficiaries during the programme.
Under the aegis of Thongju AC MLA and Works Minister Thongam Biswajit, Thongju Kendra Covid Task Force in collaboration with Young Development Association (YDA), Koirou Thongju Part-II launched a mass Covid-19 testing programme at Laishumang community hall in Koirou on Thursday.
In all, 105 people were tested, of which 12 were found positive.
Young Development Association (YDA) Koirou appreciated the team led by minister Biswajit and accompanied by Imphal East District CMO and Thongju Kendra Covid Task Force volunteers for their help in this regard, its general secretary Th Krishnakumar Singh conveyed.
