Imphal, June 22 2012:
To fill up vacant post of Headmaster in High Schools, preparations are on for conducting Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) to appoint Assistant Headmasters.
According to reliable source in Education (S) Department, the essential requirements for High School Headmaster is Assistant Head Master for at least three years.
So, the need for appointment of Assistant Head Masters, who after three years in service would be promoted to the post of Headmasters, has come up.
The source revealed that there are 256 High Schools in the state without Headmasters, and the posts are held by in-charges.
If these Headmaster in-charges are included in the Seniority List, they will be taken as Assistant Headmasters and if they are underage, they will be assigned as Graduate Teachers.
According to another source, the Headmaster for Junior High Schools, who are of the same rank as Assistant Head Master of High School, would also be appointed.
At present, there are 243 Junior High Schools without Headmasters in the state.
It is said that the main reason behind the inability to appoint regular Headmasters in various High schools and Junior high schools in the state is due to inability of the state government and the department concerned in particular to finalise a Seniority List for the last 30 years.
