Natl Lok Adalat settles 155 cases worth over Rs 1.66 Cr

Imphal, April 22 2018:
Under the
guidelines of the National Legal
Services Authority, Manipur
State Legal Services Authority
(MASLSA) organised the
second National Lok Adalat for
this year today at Lamphelpat
Court Complex for the districts
of Imphal East and Imphal
West.
Various pending cases
before the Courts as well as pre-litigation cases were taken up in
the said National Lok Adalat
for amicable settlement.
National Lok Adalat was also
organised at Thoubal,
Bishnupur, Ukhrul, Senapati,
Tamenglong by the concerned
District Legal Services
Authorities.
High Court Legal
Services Committee, High
Court of Manipur also
organised National Lok Adalat
at High Court complex,
Mantripukhri.
In the said
National Lok Adalat for the
State, a total of 155 cases were
settled with total settled amount
of Rs.1,66,19,222
Out of the
cases, there were 131 pre-litigation matters comprising of
bank recovery cases, matters
referred by Legal Aid Clinics
and 24 cases are pending cases
in the Courts.
Lok Adalat
ensures speedy disposal by
amicable settlement between
the parties.
It saves valuable
time of the parties and their
witnesses and also facilitates in-expensive and prompt remedy
appropriately to the satisfaction
of both the parties, said
Manipur State Legal Services
Authority in a press release.
It said media plays a valuable role in spreading
information, awareness and
attracting people to settle their
disputes through Lok Adalat
and the same is highly appreciated.
It hoped that media
would continue to render
such services in future also.
MASLSA thanked all the
Judicial Officers, Ld Advocates, Staffs for their
contribution in successfully
holding the National Lok Adalat.
