Tungjoy Women Society celebrates Golden Jubilee

Gracing the Tungjoy Women Society's grand golden jubilee programme, Nagaland MLA Deo Nukhu an origin of Poumai tribe today called upon the people of the District to promote women's leadership and girl's education to develop the society.
Speaking in fluent Poumai dialect, the Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education & SCERT, stated that, unity among the people is vital to achieve any given goal and encouraged the youth to give more labor in appearing & succeeding UPSC and state civil service exams as the community seriously needs them.
On the occasion of celebrating the 50 years of its existence under the theme "Women for Change", the TWS also organized technical discussion, talks, prayers, jubilee choir, cultural demonstration, and musical talents.
Women leaders and delegates from different villages, representatives from Naga Women's Union, Senapati District Women's Association, Poumai Naga Women's Union, Intellectuals, Public leaders, Village leaders, and others joined the two days celebration.

Local musical talent Zetsiini, oldies favorite Hiishirou Benjamin and others mesmerized the crowd with their outstanding performances.
Before the formal gathering, the dignitaries also unveiled the Jubilee monolith and were accorded with a rare traditional musical instrument reception which impressed the guest.
MLA Nukhu also released the Golden Jubilee Souvenir on the occasion.
Deputy Commissioner Jacintha Lazarus, IAS and ADC CEO Rang Peter, MCS graced the occasion as guests of honor, while local ADC member Simon Salony was the functional president.
Speaking at the occasion, DC Jacintha said that, women's participation in the family and society has changed and molded the world.
Dressed in a traditional Poumai costumes, the 2007 IAS batch called upon induction of more women in Village and civil bodies' leadership in shaping a developed society.
Emphasizing women's education, Jacintha mentioned that, if a mother is educated, the whole family is educated.
Our women should move out of the four walls and explore the social responsibilities to improve the present system, she said.
CEO Rang Peter, MCS in his speech added that, women are strength of the community and that; positive change takes place only when women become an active agent of change.
Tungjoy is a fortunate village blessed with good mothers and women leadership, he stated.
