Govt clarifies on school conversion

Imphal, August 17 2022:
The Department of School Education is yet to start any process for conversion of aided schools to government schools and anyone found collecting/giving money for the same will face legal action, Education (S) Department deputy secretary Anjali Chongtham stated in a release on Wednesday.
As per the release, it has come to notice that some unscrupulous people with vested interests are spreading rumours that the government is considering conversion of aided schools to full-fledged government schools.
It has also been learned that these people are collecting funds from teachers/staff of aided schools.
However, the Department of School Education is yet to start any process for conversion of aided schools to full-fledged government schools.
The government is fully committed to transparency and any conversions of the above will be done under a transparent policy of the government.
As such, it appealed to the public, and particularly the management, teachers and non-teaching staff of aided schools in Manipur not to fall prey to such rumours/unverified claims.
If anyone is found indulging in giving/taking money for conversion of aided schools into government schools, appropriate action will be taken up against them as per the law, the release conveyed.
