Training on rice based cropping system held

One day farmers' training programme on Rice Based Cropping System was on Monday held at Women's Hall, Rikumai in Senapati district.
During the function, Knap Sack Sprayers along with paddy seeds were distributed to the participating farmers.
The training programme was organised by District Agriculture Office, Senapati under National Food Security Mission (Rice) and altogether 50 farmers were participating in it.
During the function, the Deputy Commissioner of the district Jacintha Lazarus maintained that training is a necessary method for bringing change to the targeted participants and farmers will be imparted with scientific method so as to get optimum development out of the available resources and inputs.
The Deputy Commissioner further continued that increase of agricultural production has been demanded due to increase of human population.
So, she appealed, it is not only necessary to apply the scientific knowledge the farmers get from the training but also share it to other fellow farmers.
The District Office, Horticulture and Soil Conservation Th Biren Singh said that application of old and traditional method of agriculture has limited rice production and now this limitedness could be overcome with the application of scientific method of agriculture which in turn benefitted to the farmers.
The training programme was presided by the District Agriculture Officer Dr N Banabon Singh.
