Gaikhangam cautions people against pseudo historians

The 34th Archives Week Celebration cum Record Exhibition-2013 was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam at the office of Manipur State Archives, Keishampat here today.
The inaugural function was also attended by former Deputy Chief Minister Dr L Chandramani as President, while Commissioner of Art and Culture Dr RK Nimai and Director of Art and Culture Dr K Sobita as Guests of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy CM Gaikhangam said that the archival records are important in understanding the great history of the State.
The records are factual and they are to be referred whenever there is some confusion or doubt.
Pseudo scholars and historians are abundant in the State.
The general people should not be carried away by their words.
The State Archives is playing significant roles in preserving all historical records of the State, he averred.

Dr Chandramani said that the State Archives is now able to maintain good records of significant historical events of the State.
Students and scholars could have easy access to such records for their academic and research purposes.
An English version of Cheitharol Kumbaba was also released by the Chief Guest Gaikhangam during the inaugural function.
Further, a seminar on the topic 'Quit Gaadi Movement", which would go on for three days was inaugurated.
On the first day today, the seminar was moderated by Dr N Joykumar, Professor of History Department, Manipur University during which noted historian Padmashree RK Jhalajit Singh, Dr Irengbam Mohendro Singh, Prof John Parrat, Dr M Akshekumar Singh and senior journalist Kangujam Madhumangol read out papers.
The week-long celebration would feature a five-day exhibition of rare archival records.
