Government intervention called for Seijang conflict

Imphal, November 13 2014:
The state unit of the Naga People's Front has today called for an immediate intervention of the state government in resolving the issue of the conflict at Saijang Village of Imphal-East district, said a release.
In the statement they also observed the difficulties faced by the people of the area as a result of the Imphal-Ukhrul indefinite bandh called by the Saijang Development Committee which has now entered three days.
They appealed to the committee to lift the blockade on humanitarian grounds.
In another release, the Youth Progressive Front of Yaingangpokpi also stressed the issue and demanded the government to provide a final ultimatum on the dispute stating that the bandh has affected all the people of the area irrespective of religion.
An appeal to call off the bandh was also made by the association, sources said.
