9/11 Observed in JNU, Delhi

Tonight, the Protest March against AFSPA, 1958 was observed from Ganga Dhaba to Chandrabhaga Hostel in JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) in remembrance of the day when the act became a law in the country on this day, the September 11, 1958 .
The AFSPA (amendment in 1972) version which is in function in Northeast India was read out and burnt down symbolically to show a gesture against this act.
It was also informed to the JNU student community about the 1997 Supreme Court Judgement categorically has insisted that the �disturbed condition� is not due to �armed rebellion� wherein the Act has been enforced or that the said �condition� does not constitute a threat to the �security of the nation�, the military and the political class continue to maintain otherwise.
One former student of JNU, now an Assistant Professor in Zakir Hussain College spoke in detail about the act.
Many comrades from different parts of the country shared their views and showed solidarity on the movement against AFSPA, 1958 in Northeast India and Kashmir.
The student community present also decided that the act must be repealed.
The Protest March was initiated by AISA (All India Students Association) and many students from different political inclinations participated the march and showed solidarity.
The same was also observed in Delhi University Arts faculty from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm as a Sit-in-Protest cum discussion on the act.
