Vaccination of 15-18 yr: Pherzawl tops at 86.71 pc

Governor La Ganesan has appealed to all sections of the society to disseminate message amongst the people irrespective of caste, creed and religion to come forward voluntarily for Covid-19 vaccination.
Speaking at an interaction programme on vaccination of students in the age group of 15-18 years and teaching & non-teaching staff of schools at City Convention Centre here on Friday, the Governor reminded that vaccination is the best way to save valuable lives from the jaws of death due to Covid-19.He said people should not believe in any baseless conception regarding Covid-19 vaccination.
"Despite all the hurdles faced by our nation, we are now almost able to overcome this dreaded disease but still a lot need to be done.
The relentless efforts and dedication made by doctors, scientists and frontline workers to their duties are indeed commendable and praiseworthy by all the people of the nation", he said.
Ganesan further noted that apart from his appeal, meetings with religious leaders of all communities had been convened at Raj Bhavan and urged them to disseminate messages to the people to come forward for vaccination.
He also expressed his satisfaction over the initiative taken up by Education and Health departments to vaccinate students of age group 15-18 yrs.
Commissioner of Education (S) M Joy Singh, who was also present at the event, said Covid pandemic has been a global issue and all have to be united to fight the pandemic.
Director of Education (S) L Nandakumar, while giving a detailed report regarding the vaccination drive, said out of 1,07,701 students in the age group of 15-18 years, 59.14 per cent has been vaccinated in the state with Pherzawl district topping the vaccination chart with a healthy 86.71 per cent till date.
He also informed that 97.58 per cent of the teaching & non-teaching staff has been vaccinated.
Principals and headmasters from across the state participated in the interaction programme physically as well as virtually.
