CSOs form Task Force to help fight Covid in Kangpokpi

Kangpokpi, May 10 2021:
In view of the sudden surge in COVID-19 cases in the district, Kangpokpi CSO COVID Task Force was formed on Monday, following a meeting held at KSO administrative office building at Kangpokpi DHQs.
The Kangpokpi CSO COVID Task Force was formed with an aim to assist the district administration, district police, medical department and other frontline workers in the fight against the dreaded pandemic.
Thangminlen Kipgen, ThangtinlenHaokip and Lhaitinneng Vaiphei were elected as chairman, secretary and joint secretary respectively of the 16-member task force.
K Songreng Kom (7005447978), Thangminlen , Kipgen (989868320501) and S Lienboi Vaiphei (8729901209) will serve as the point of contact for the public.
The joint meeting of the CSOs resolved that the task force shall oversee the preparations made by the local representatives in their respective assembly segments, the district administration, the district police and medical department to combat the second wave in the district, apart from the preparations made by all villages in the district.
The meeting also entrusted the task force to frame local COVID protocols to be strictly adhered to by the local populace and spread awareness through social media, audio and video.
It was also decided that the task force shall have a review meeting from time to time with the district administration, district police and medical department in close coordination with the three MLAs of the district.
The task force is also entrusted to monitor essential items supply in the district and ensure availability of essential items at normal rate.
With 13 new positive cases detected in the district on Monday, the number of active cases stood at 74 while five COVID patients recovered and were discharged on the same day.
Among the 74 active cases, two are being treated at COVID hospital, three at CCC Leikop or Isolation Ward, 62 are under home isolation, two have been referred to CCC Imphal and five are at the isolation camp.
The number of Covid deaths has reached 21 in the district.
Meanwhile, Kangpokpi town entered its fourth day of total lockdown on Monday and it will continue till May 13.CSOs of Saikul under the aegis of Kuki Inpi, Saikul Gamkai also imposed total lockdown from May 12 to May 15, while announcing local COVID protocols in addition to the government SOPs and guidelines.
As per its protocols, anyone found opening shops during the total lockdown will be fined Rs 20,000.Any types of gathering including marriage, Church activities have also been banned until further notice.
Local residents staying outside and willing to come home must give prior information to their respective village chiefs.
Meanwhile, as per district hospital source, almost all the available oxygen cylinders have been exhausted and needed immediate refilling.
