Govt extends curbs till May 16

To check the surging Covid-19 infections in the state, without resorting to a complete shutdown; the state government has extended the existing restrictions in containment zones under IMC and Greater Imphal areas as well as other restrictions already in place in other parts of the state till May 16.In an order issued on Thursday, State Executive Committee chairman and chief secretary in-charge M H Khan notified that containment zones in areas under IMC and Greater Imphal will continue with suspension of all activities and movement of people.
All shops in Thangal Bazar, Paona Bazar, Ima Keithels and adjoining Temporary Market as well as other local markets at Khurai Lamlong, Andro Parking, Lambulane, Kongba, Pishumthong, Kwakeithel, Nagamapal, Singjamei Bazar, Wahengbam Leikai, etc, will remain closed, it said.
The order also informed that wholesale shops in Imphal can open on rotation basis of one in three shops from 6 am to 10 am, with strict avoidance of crowding.
Queue system should be adopted by all shops and vendors.
Deputy commissioners and district SPs will prepare the roster of shops/vendors and promptly close any market/shop/vendor not complying with social distancing and causing crowding.
DCs and district SPs can take the help of local clubs in organising the roster and physical distancing of vendors, it ordered.
The order mentioned that there will be complete ban on movement of all vehicles including during the period of 6 am to 10 am, except goods vehicles, oxygen supply related vehicles, LPG and oil tankers and vehicles of other essential services like power supply, water supply, medical/Covid services and waste/garbage clearance, Public Distribution System, vehicles of personnel of departments/organisations, health facilities including animal healthcare permitted to be functional.
All individuals going for Covid-19 vaccination, Covid testing and medical emergencies are also exempted, it added.
The order further informed that restrictions and exemptions mentioned in the previous order will remain in force until further notice.
