One day workshop

A one day State level workshop on National Biodiversity Action Plan, National Biodiversity Targets and 6th National Report on Convention on Biological Diversity, sponsored by the National Biodiversity Authority of India, was organised at Forest Department, Sanjenthong, under the aegis of Manipur Biodiversity Board yesterday.
Speaking at the occasion, Additional Chief Secretary, Manipur, Shambhu Singh, said that biodiversity is now a common word due to its importance and contributions to the livelihood and income of the people.
He said that attempts should be made to let biodiversity resources in the hot spot areas of the NE region, be made into safe havens of the endangered and threatened species.
He also stressed on the active involvement of the local population so as to achieve this aim.
The workshop was attended by scientist, researchers, experts from CAU, ICAR, MU, line Departments, herbal practitioners and NGOs as well as numerous CSOs.
