War on drugs campaign not against any community'

Chief minister N Biren has affirmed that the 'war on drugs' campaign launched by his government is not intended to demonise or discriminate against any community but is aimed at eradicating the scourge of poppy cultivation from the state, stop drug business and prevent deforestation.
Addressing a delegation of Hmar community who extended support to the government's 'War on Drugs' campaign and felicitated him at his Secretariat office on Thursday, N Biren commended gesture and pledge of the Hmar people inspite of the fact that no poppy cultivation is carried out in their areas.
The CM also urged all concerned not to spread false rumours in connection with the mission.
"All of us are brothers and sisters, let's join hands together for development of Manipur, let's prioritise development over all else," he stressed.
Various leaders of Hmar community led by Tipaimukh MLA Ngursanglur Sanate felicitated and congratulated N Biren on his second term as the chief minister.
The leaders from Hmar Inpuii, Hmar Women's Association, Hmar Students' Association and Hmar Artistes Association among others also submitted a letter of appreciation to CM to show the community's trust in his leadership.
They also declared their sup port to the government and asserted that Hmar community is a peace loving community and will always stand for development of the state.
While expressing happiness for placing their trust on the present government, Biren also urged all to focus on development.
The community leaders also placed their issues before the chief minister, who assured to look into them.
The organisations also gifted presents to the chief minister as a mark of their confidence in him.
