Will meet Union HM, resolve Abonmai case: CM Biren

The state government on Thursday observed the 125th Birth Anniversary of Jananeta Hijam Irawat (Irabot) at Irawat Square, Lilashing Khongnangkhong here.
As part of the observance, CM N Biren led the cabinet ministers, MLAs and top officials of the government in offering floral tributes to the bust of Hijam Irabot.
Speaking at the event, CM Biren informed that a joint discussion with the central leaders, including the national president of BJP will be held in connection with the upcoming assembly elections.
For this, he along with Minister Th Biswajit and BJP general secretary organisation (Nagaland & Manipur) Abhay Kumar Giri will be visiting Delhi.
He then said that he will be apprising the Union Home Minister about Athuan Abonmai's case so as to resolve the issue at the earliest.
Further informing that the Union Home Minister has already been made aware of the case twice in writing, the CM said that the first letter conveyed the sentiments of the people regarding the case and urged for handing over the case to NIA considering its nature.
In response, the Union Home Minister assured of examining the case and instructed for submitting a formal request, with the FIR copy enclosed.
Thus, the second letter was submitted as per the instructions, he added.
Regarding the observance, the CM said that the Birth Anniversary of Hijam Irabot, a leader who stood against atrocities and sacrificed his life for the people, was finally celebrated at the state level only after the BJP government came to power.
The people should always remember the courage of Irabot, his love and care for the poor and the farmers, along with all his other virtues.
All should try to emulate his thinking as much as possible, Biren asserted.
Meanwhile, mentioning about Indian Vice President Venkaiah Naidu's proposed visit to the north-eastern states including Manipur on October 5, Biren said that the visit is the indication of the President and the Vice President's regard for the region.
All necessary requirements for the visit to Manipur will be made in consultation with his office, he added.
On the other hand, Irabot Day was observed by Singjamei Youth Wing under the supervision of National People's Party (NPP) aspirant candidate Oinam Romen at his residence in Singjamei Oinam Thingel on Thursday.
As part of the observance, floral tributes were offered to the portrait of Irabot, which was followed by donation of edible items to the inmates of Yaibilen Destitute Children Home in Keibi Sanapat, Imphal East.
The 125th Birth Anniversary of Jananeta Hijam Irawat was also observed by Lions Club of Imphal in association with Lions Club of Imphal North.
As part of the observance, face masks and face shields were distributed to frontline workers of Sekmai Nagar Panchayat, along with conduct of a tree plantation drive under the environment project of Lions Club at Tendongyan on Thursday.
Intending candidate from Patsoi AC Wahengbam Dineshchandra also observed the 125th Birth Anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irawat on Thursday, by extending assistance in the form of food items and GI sheets to vulnerable families in the constituency.
Dineshchandra also extended monetary aid to a dialysis patient and further assistance to local clubs for observance of the day.
