Lecture on educational counselling held

Taking the initiative to support and equip the people of remote villages of Chandel district with necessary guidance for opening up prospects of a better future away from the backwardness and empowering women of the region, Moltuk Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR launched a multi-series programme aimed at educational counselling and empowerment of youth and women for guidance on future avenues.
The multi-series programme which began with the organisation of an educational counselling and discussion on future avenues for youth empowerment capsule at Phaisanjang on July 22 was followed up with a similar capsule at the border village of Molcham and Khengjoi today.
The capsule emphasised on educational prospects for the youth and women of the villages and counselled them regarding numerous opportunities available to them including options for pursuing higher education and in the field of sports.
Women and girls were enlightened about the avenues for their recruitment in the defence forces and were encouraged to pursue career in defence.
After the lecture, the audience took part in a healthy discussion wherein they clarified their queries and doubts.
The event at Khengjoi culminated with a friendly Volley ball match.
Meanwhile, the villagers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Moltuk Battalion for conducting such welfare events with an aim to wean away the locals especially the youth and the children from the militancy, said a press release issued by IGAR (S) .
