Fresh screening for Rotary's heart project held

Imphal, July 30 2012:
The fourth Screening programme of Rotary's 'Heart to Heart' Project was held yesterday at the Rotary Centre, Mantripukhri with a total of 74 new applications.
The screening programme is a joint effort of Rotary Club of Imphal and Rotary Club of Polo City Imphal.
All the children selected will be operated under Rotary's Gift of Life Project, New Delhi.
The first screening was held in October 2008 attended by 114 children, second in April 2011 with 30 children and the third one in October 2011 with 50 children.
In a statement, Coordinator of Gift of Life (India) and Heart to Heart Project informed that the present screening programme has three phases.
Phase 1: the submission of the necessary document as held yesterday; Phase 2: August 5 - Parents have to report to check the eligibility list.
Serial numbers of the selected/eligible applicants will be also decided by a draw of lots in the presence of the parents on that day; Phase 3: The final phase of the screening programme will be conducted by world renowned heart specialists from New Delhi on August 12.A team of world renowned Paediatric Cardio Surgeon and Cardiologist from Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi will be visiting Imphal to medically examine all the selected children with free echocardiography on August 12.The Echocardiography will be sponsored by the New Babina Diagnostics Centre, Soibam Leikai.
Rotary Club of Imphal and Rotary Club of Polo City Imphal will be jointly hosting the special visit of the renowned heart specialists including their travel.
So far 82 children from Manipur have undergone open heart surgery at free of cost under Rotary's Heart Project.
25 were operated under the total sponsorship of Heart to Heart project of Rotary Club of Imphal and 57 children have been operated under the 'Gift of Life', a Rotary Humanitarian Program in India since 2002 .
Managed by Rotary (Delhi NCR) Gift of Life Trust, Rotary Club of Delhi Midwest and Rotary Club of Delhi East End, for saving lives of underprivileged children suffering from Congenital Heart Diseases (CHD) .
Accommodation and meals at Delhi are provided by Manav Ashray.
Transportation at Delhi is provided by 'Kalakar Trust', the statement added.
