PCCF inaugurates forest beat office

CCpur, August 29 2017:
The Principal Chief Conservator of Forest today inaugurated a newly constructed forest beat office at Mata Mualtam, about 7 kms from Churachandpur town .
The Principal Chief Conservator and head of Forest Force Kereilhouvi Angami, along with three other officials also conducted an extensive field visit of the projects taken up by the department in the district .
The visiting officials, also comprising of Dr Lokho Puni, Addl PCCF; S Dhananjoy Singh, CCF and Kh Shyam Singh, CF visited the tree plantation sites at Hengkot and Phaihel villages located along the Tipaimukh Road prior to the inauguration .
Later the team on their way to Panglian and Tanglian villages along the Tiddim Road located along the periphery of Khuga lake, for a similar visit, inaugurated a newly constructed beat office of the department at Mata Mualtam .
The beat office which has been there until the late 90s was shifted to a temporary shed at Lanva after it was set afire by miscreants .
The restoration of the office to its original location was appreciated much by the villagers.
The village chief Liankhankhup said they are looking forward to a reengagement with the department in their plantation drives as well as in raising nurseries .
K Angami while addressing the solemn function appealed to the public to support their initiatives for the welfare of the public and help protect the vast resources bestowed by nature .
He said the department implements innumerable schemes, both in reserve area and community land .
The district officials are doing an excellent job and the species they have chosen are indigenous that quickly adapt to the environment and record good growth.
As these exercises are meant for protecting the environment, the local community hold a crucial responsibility in their preservation, he said .
The visiting officials were accompanied by the DFO Southern Forest Division Kham Suanmung Tombing and his subordinate staff.
