Imphal, November 26 2021:
Communist Party of India (CPI), Manipur State Council on Friday launched a mass campaign against communal politics in the state as part of CPI's nationwide campaign which began Friday and will continue till December 6 .
Speaking during the launch of the campaign at Irawat Bhawan here, CPI Manipur general secretary L Sotinkumar contended that since formation of the BJP government, there has been increasing activities which are subverting nation's constitution, democracy, secularism and federalism.
PM Narendra Modi during the 2014 Lok Sabha election had announced that corruption will be rooted out but after seven years of his rule corruption has only increased.
The present government is deeply involved in crony capitalism and in the name of Covid-19 has been relentlessly increasing the prices of essential commodities such as petrol, diesel and LPG which is breaking the back of common and middle-class people.
At a time when prices of daily needs are sky high due to government's ill-devised policies and made numerous daily wage earners forgo their meals, the government has put out National Monetisation Pipeline Policy in the name of bettering the economy which will only increase the prices of essential items, he contended.
Sotinkumar appealed to the people who want to save the democracy, constitution and secularism of the country to support the 11-day campaign.
The BJP-led government must repeal the three farm laws, legalise Minimum Support Price (MSP), take back labour card and release people who have been booked and jailed under sedition law, he further demanded.
