A team of Thoubal district police, led by the district's Additional SP (Law and Order) brought two individuals who were arrested by a combined team of Thoubal police and Tripura police on September 19 this year, from Tripura today in connection with the seizure of 40 lakh W/Y tablets at Phoudel Keirambi on August 24 .
According to a police source, the arrested individuals are identified as Jhutan Malakar (29) s/o Shyamal Malakar of Kamalpur village and Tanmoy Pal (22) s/o Tapan Kanti Pal Dhupirbong, Krishnapur, North Tripura.
The source mentioned that as a follow up action of the FIR related to the seizure of the drugs at Phoudel Keirambi on August 24 this year along with the arrest of four accused (including a drug kingpin from Myanmar), a team of Special Investigation team (SIT) went to Tripura on September 18 .
On reaching Agartala, the police officers of Thoubal district were assisted by Tripura police and the combined team arrested two more accused from Tripura on September 19 along with a Ford Eco Sports vehicle.
After getting transit remand for four days from Special Judge, South Tripura, the arrested individuals were brought back by Thoubal District Police (SIT) to Manipur safely by road via Assam through National Highway 53 with the assistance of Jiribam police, the
source added.
