Kasom Khullen villagers facing water shortage

Imphal, January 24 2018:
The people of the villages under Kasom Khullen Sub-Division of Kamjong district, have been facing acute shortage of drinking water after a water carrying Shaktiman truck met with an accident and fell into a gorge on January 22 .
According to information received from an official source of Kasom Khullen Village Authority, the accident occurred at around 4.40 pm of the day, when the water carrying Shaktiman truck fell into the gorge locally known as Tuputukuang.
The driver of the truck sustained some injuries in the accident.
The accident has also resulted in acute shortage of drinking water in most of the villages of the sub division, it added.
The source further stated that initially the people used a pump to bring up water from the bottom of the gorge.
After the pump broke down, water had to be brought by truck to the villages, it added.
The village authority has also written to the local MLA K Leishiyo regarding the pump failure as well as the accident and the immense hardships faced by the people.
The MLA has assured to inform PHE Minister L Dikho about the situation at the earliest, the source added.
