The United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) on Thursday observed 11th Reformation Day at its Nazareth camp.
The 11th reformation day of the UKLF was held at its designated Nazareth camp at Muvanphoi general headquarters near Kangboral village on the Indian side of the Indo-Myanmar border some 150 km from Imphal.
The event was a several hours' affairs with parades and speeches preceded by unfurling of flag by the outfit's home secretary Anthony Thadou who also presided over the function as the chief guest.
UKLF is one of the Kuki outfits that have entered into a tripartite Suspension of Operation (SoO) with the Centre and state government.
Speaking at the function, Mr.Thadou observed that the day has been observed annually "to remind ourselves of the need to reform and look forward to the future of our society with an eye for unity" .
"Major" Kenedy Thadou, commanding officer of UKLF highlighted in his speech that the day has been observed since September 22, 2000 after reforming and reviving the outfit which went defunct shortly after its inception in the 90s due to wayward leaders.
"If we don't protect ourselves and our community, nobody will do it for us," he said while giving a clarion call to the cadres and added that "on the 11th foundation day, let us pledge to rededicate ourselves with a reformed mindset for the advancement of our society" .
Villagers from the surrounding areas also participated at the event that beguiled them with parade competition between different units of UKLF.
