Four UG activists including a woman were nabbed by security forces on Friday in separate counter insurgency operations, official sources said today.
The woman activist identified as Waribam Ibemcha Devi (47) wife of Late Ibomcha of Lairikyengbam Leikai Mayai Leirak belongs to a KCP group and was nabbed by a team of Imphal West police commandos comprising women police from Thangal Bazar near Sani Mandir yesterday around 10.35 am, a statement of the Senior Imphal West SP said.
She had been engaged in extortion of money from various government departments, businessmen, shopkeepers under the instruction of one Boby Devi of Thangmeiband for 'party fund', the statement alleged.
Two UNLF cadres were apprehended by troops of 31 Assam Rifles at Khudengthabi of Chandel district on Wednesday along with one AK-56 rifle, two magazines, two mobile handsets and ' 1,100 .
They were identified as Md Tomba (22) son of Naba Chawaba of Kwakta village, Bishnupur and Tazimur Rehman (22) son of Enamuddin of Moreh ward no..5They were handed over to the police in Imphal today, a statement of the IGAR(S) said.
Troops of 23 AR also nabbed a KCP activist identified as Laishram Abungcha alias Sushil (23) son of Yaibi of Chingnungkhok Maning Leikai yesterday from Nongada area of Imphal east district.
A mobile phone was recovered from him, the statement added.
