Awareness on legal rights of women held

Ukhrul, January 23 2018:
Chairperson of Manipur State Commission for Women Dr K Sobita Devi inaugurated a two day awareness programme on legal rights of women organized by Manipur State Commission for Women under the aegis of National Commission for Women at Ilongshim community hall, Awungtang Hungpung, Ukhrul.
Speaking at the occasion, she stressed on the need to educate the women on their basic legal rights and the fundamental rights enshrined in the constitution of the country.
She lauded the present BJP led Government for enabling them to reach out to the hill districts.
The constitution provide equal rights for all citizens regardless of their gender, she said.
K Sobita also urged people especially women to report any violence against women to the Manipur State Commission.
The MSCW is always there to provide legal assistance to distressed women she adds.
The members of Manipur State commission for women Ranjita Golmei and Dr Farida Shah, president of Tangkhul Shanao Long Grace Shatsang and president WHUSA K Chuihaola attended the event as the presidium members.
Over 100 women leaders from different localities and villages of Ukhrul participated the awareness programme.
