Imphal, June 21 2012:
The Manipur Chemist and Druggist Association (MCDA) has categorically pointed out that if at all the news published in the local media over the alleged presence of dirt and germs in a medicine sold in a pharmacy in Singjamei is true, it would be the fault of the company and not the pharmacy which is selling the medicine.
In a press statement by its President Dr RK Ratankumar, MCDA said that the issue has been discussed and made known to the company concerned.
Accordingly, company has checked the batch number of the medicine (A to Z) but no defect has been detected and there are no complaints of the product with the same batch number from anywhere in the country.
However, more samples of the medicine which is of the same batch number would be further sent for checking, the statement added.
It further stated that it would have been more wiser and proper if the MCDA was first contacted and discussed the issue before going to media.
It also appealed to all to inform the MCDA and bring the cash memo, the batch number of the medicine and the medicine itself, in case such incidence come up in future.
