All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) Saturday condemns the attack on CoHSEM members including its Chairman and the damage caused to their vehicles at Lilong Houreibi College, Lilong by a mob for taking action against three students implicated in copying and impersonation case.
ATSUM President Emboi Serto alleged that the three candidates appearing HSE examination conducted by CoHSEM were caught indulging in cheating/copying and impersonation by the Council officials and expelled them for their acts.
Condemning such unsolicited mob violence, ATSUM president lamented that when the Council members are personally committed to improve the quality of examination in the State, everyone including the student community and the general public should render maximum cooperation and support them.
"It is scandalously unfortunate that dedicated and committed Council officials were attacked for their efforts to bring clean examination in the state for the welfare of the future society", asserted ATSUM President.
Meanwhile, the Joint Students' Coordination Committee has strongly condemned the deliberate attack on the council officials and vandalism by the mob.
Convenor of the committee, Thangjam Premananda, termed the hostility towards the council officials and pressmen as purely nonsensical.
The action of the mob validated the theory that use of unfair means and impersonation of candidates were indeed taking place inside the centre.
He disclosed that there were reports of mass scale copying at the centre during MIL examination too.
There were allegations of large scale copying during the last year Higher Secondary Examination at the centre, he added.
