Volunteers of Quick Response Team (QRT) of All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) to seized 750 litres of petrol filled in three barrels from Porompat Service Station in Imphal East district which were trying to be sold off to two black-marketeers after taking Rs 60,000 .
The seizure has come about even as the public are suffering from shortage of fuel on account of the public blockade imposed by KSDC along all National Highways and State Highways.
Addressing a press conference in connection with the seizure, President of AMSU Th Suresh demanded that appropriate measure be initiated against such action by cancelling license of the fuel station.
He also appealed to all the staffs manning the oil pumps not to take undue advantage of the prevailing situation but extend co-operation in ensuring un-interrupted supply of oil to the people.
He expressed unhappiness over the alleged silence of concerned Minister and officials and questioned why no clear initiatives have been taken even as some oil pumps have remained almost shut-down.
Suresh made it clear that AMSU would maintain strict vigilance and anyone in the oil pump who is found taking undue advantage of the prevailing situation would be dealt with severely.
