Govt likely to pass ILPS Bill by August end

): State Government is likely to pass the Inner Line Permit (ILP) Bill or a similar system in the Assembly by the end of the current month.
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Thursday celebrated the 71st Birth Anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India.
MPCC President and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Chief Minister O Ibobi, Council of Ministers, Congress MLAs, workers and members attended the function at the Congress Bhavan.
The participants paid floral tribute to the photograph of Rajiv Gandhi.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the function, Deputy CM Gaikhangam said, "It is good that the ILP movement is coming to a positive direction towards an amicable solution to the issue with the joint effort of the Government and the JCIPLS.
The Government is trying its best to call an Assembly Session before August 25 or latest by the end of August to pass an ILPS Bill favourable to the indigenous people of Manipur, Gaikhangam said.
Gaikhangam, who is also the Home Minister, condemned the unfortunate August 18 Moreh violent incident following a confrontation between two communities that led to the loss of properties.
He said, "We are doing our level best to calm the situation in Moreh.
Luckily, the situation is now returning to normalcy.
I appeal to all to maintain communal harmony in our State." To control such type of sensitive situations in the border town in future, Gaikhangam also said that more additional forces of the State Police will be deployed in Moreh soon.
