35 vehicles vandalized

Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC) has claimed that its supporters had vandalized around 35 trucks by pelting stones during the indefinite economic blockade imposed by the committee along the national highways connecting Jiribam since Tuesday midnight last demanding declaration of Jiribam sub-division as a full-fledged Revenue District.
However, sources said that out of around 167 loaded trucks which have been stranded at Leingangpokpi, only around five vandalized loaded trucks were seen by the passersby.
The vandalized vehicles were identified as FCI goods carriers - MNO1-8631, cement carriers MNO1-8643, AS11TC-3282, AS01CC-0886 and iron carrier AS01R-0755.Meanwhile, sources said that due to the economic blockade, over 200 loaded trucks which were supposed to reach Imphal through the national highway-37 (Imphal-Jiri) have been stranded in Jiribam, Leingangtabi and at some Assam areas just opposite to Jirighat.
