Imphal, December 18 2017:
An office of the Sub-Deputy Collector was opened today at Sana Keithel (Sina Keithei), Ukhrul district .
Works, RD&PR and Power Minister Thongam Biswajit, CAF&PD and Revenue Minister Karam Shyam, Khadi and Village Industries Board Chairman L Radhakishore and MLA K Leishiyo graced the inaugural function as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively .
Speaking at the gathering, Biswajit claimed that the gap that existed between the State Government and the public has been bridged to a great extent following the installation of the coalition Government led by Chief Minister N Biren .
The SDC office has been opened today in consonance with the State Government's 'Go to Hills' slogan .
The past 15 years were marked by bandhs, blockades and distrust among different communities and the preceding Governments did nothing for development of the State, Biswajit asserted .
Even today, Congress party has been politicising the Framework Agreement, demonetisation and the GST.
People should not fall prey to such cheap propaganda, he said .
Biswajit announced that job card holders of MGNREGS who do not have bank accounts and whose bank accounts have not been linked with Aadhar numbers would be de-listed .
Responding to memoranda submitted by the people of Sina Keithei and surrounding villages, Biswajit claimed that the Government has been working to initiate a water supply project in the area under NLCPR .
He said that he would try to include construction of Mahadeva-Sina Keithei road either under North Eastern Roads Sector Development Scheme or Road Infrastructure Development Fund in the next work programme .
For the moment, the road would be improved by laying a layer of shingles/stones in view of Christmas festival, he said .
He also assured to look into the shortage of teaching staff at Sina Keithei Chingsang High School in consultation with the Education Minister and also all requirements of the local PHC and PHSC in consultation with the Health Minister .
Karam Shyam warned that there should not be any report about absence of the SDC and staff at the office opened today .
The SDC and staff should attend office and there should be no excuse for absenteeism .
The Government would make all necessary arrangements so that the SDC office opened today can function smoothly, Shyam assured .
He further claimed that Manipur can be made economically self-reliant and a progressive State if hill areas which constitute 90 per cent of the State's total geographical area are used productively .
"These days land resources are valued highly in all countries and we should protect our land resources", Karam Shyam said .
There are reports about the Sina Keithei FCS godown lying unused.
It would be put to good use certainly, he said .
Claiming that the Government has been disbursing rice and kerosene regularly, the CAF&PD Minister appealed to all the people to inform him if any one of them is not getting his/her due share of rice and kerosene .
He further announced that another SDC office would be opened at Thawai .
Works and CAF&PD Commissioner K Radhakumar, Ukhrul DC Dr Harmit Singh Pahuja, PWD Chief Engineer K Temba, Revenue Deputy Secretary Y Rajen and other officials were also present at the inaugural function.
