'Maitri Cycle Rally' concludes

'Maitri Cycle Rally' organised by Border Security Force (BSF) was culminated today at Border Outpost Silkore, Mizoram.
13 cyclists from BSF had cycled along the International Boundary covering the area through West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram to mark the 'Birth Centenary' celebration of the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh 'Bangabandhu, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman' and to promote and strengthen the bonds of friendship and to enhance the mutual cooperation and trust between BSF and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), said a statement issued by PRO IG BSF, Mizoram and Cachar Frontier.
The 13 cyclists had covered more than 4000kms as they were flag in today at Border Outpost Silkore after they were flag off 66 days ago from Border Outpost Panitar, added the statement.
During the entire journey, the 'Maitri Cycle Rally' was welcomed by the BGB officials at many places along the International Boundary and the border population including school children came forward and extended warm welcome and organised cultural programme in honour of the rally, added the statement.
The culmination programme of the 'Maitri Cycle Rally' today coincided with the Birth Centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was attended by Rakesh Asthana (IPS), DG, BSF; Shashi Bhushan Kumar Singh (IPS), DG, Mizoram Police; Pankaj Kumar Singh (IPS), addl DG, HQ BSF Easter Command; DK Boora, IG, HQ Mizoram and Cachar Frontier, officials of local District Administration and senior officials of Border Guard Bangladesh to felicitate the cyclists of the rally.
DG Rakesh Asthana presented mementos to all the cyclists and also to the officials of BGB and Brigadier General Md Zakir Hossain, regional commander, BGB conveyed his gratitude for such a great gesture by the BSF.
The closing ceremony ended with a vote of thanks from Kuldeep Singh, DIG, SHQ, BSF.
