2nd Poets' meet held

With an aim to ensure compulsory education to each and every child, a new scheme would be enforced to send parents to jail if they do not send their children to school, Lok Sabha MP Dr T Meinya has stated.
Speaking as Chief Guest of the 2nd Poets' Meet cum Award distribution organised by Dalit Sahitya Akademi, Manipur here today, Dr Meinya observed that a State or a country could develop only when all its citizens become literate.
In order to make every citizen literate and to ensure that no child is left out in the literacy campaign, the government has introduced new scheme to imprison parents for not sending their children to school.
Three books namely 'Maichousinggee Puwari', 'Kangleipakki Meihourolda Kangla' and 'Koubru Chingoirol' written by Ningthouja Irabot were also released on the occasion.
