CCpur, June 16 2017:
Villagers of Saipum, Tualjang, Bohlui and Semoul today conducted a social work to repair the dilapidated road connecting their villages with the assistance of machinery supplied by the 26 Assam Rifles.
The road that runs along the Khuga canal had broken down in many areas particularly in between Saipum and Bohlui forcing residents of the area to take up the onus of restoring their lifeline on their own.
The villagers arranged the man power and somehow managed the transportation machinery and sought the help of the 26 Assam Rifles to lay the road with chips taken from the river bed.
Some of the villagers had
contributed the services of their trucks and tractors for transportation.
"The 26 Assam Rifles posted at Khuga Dam and at Singngat co-ordinated to help us out and contributed a JCB to make the job restoring our lifeline a reality," an elderly man who had toiled for the much needed restoration exercise said.
The rest of the households from the villages contributed the workforce, he added.
