Nationwide stir against anti-labour policies

Like the rest of the country, a Satyagraha movement will be launched in Manipur as a protest against the anti labour policies being pursued by Government of India on the influence of Multi National Companies (MNC) and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) under the initiatives Coordinating Body of Trade Union Manipur (CBTUM) on February 26 .
On February 26, Yumnan Ranapratap, general secretary Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) said central trade union organisations will be observing the protest in different parts of the country.
Court arrest; sit in protest and organising rallies will be some features of the protest added Yumnam.
Different central trade unions have been demanding the protection of labour in the country for the last five years, informed Laishram Sotinkumar, general secretary All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) .
Other demands include regularization of employees on master roll, casual and contract basis; to make the employees on master roll, casual and contract beneficiary of all the avail to a regular employees; regularization of Aganwadi and ASHA workers.
